Gurumurthy Vaidya, fondly called as "Tabla Guru" is one of the leading musicians in the world of rhythm. Born and brought up in the district of North Canara, Gurumurthy Vaidya is a Tablist by Profession. Being guided initially by Sri G G Hegde, and Pt. Basavaraj Bendigere, he is now under the tutelage of Pt. Ravindra Yavagal, Bangalore.
He belongs to the rich traditions of Ustad Ahmed Jan Tirakhwa Saheb.
Shri Gurumurthy Vaidya has gained a good knowledge and control over Vocal Music, Pakhawaj, Chende, Mrudanga, other rhythmic instruments along with Tabla. Laya Vinyasa, is a popular programme experimented and popularised by him with performing all said instruments with/without vocal support. Graded Tabla artist of AIR, Bangalore and TV artist has performed worldwide and has accompanied the greatest musicians. He has composed and directed music for many music projects.
This band from land of coconuts, has been connecting and inspiring people with their unique band of infectious happy music, which transcends age, genre and language. A 4 member band, they have performed across the country in over 200 shows and recently did a small leg of standalone International show in South East Asia. Venues and festivals ranging from the most popular NH7 Weekender, Red Bull Tour Bus to niche festivals like the Repertwahr theatre and music festivals like Orange festival -Danbuk, Rhythm and Blues Festival- Kasauli, Annual Royal Enfield Biker Festival and The Exotic Desert Festival.
As a young child Hafiz Khan was fascinated and attracted towards Sitar playing owing to ardent musical atmosphere at home. He started learning Sitar and Vocal at a young age of seven under his grandfather Sitar Ratna Rahimat Khan and then under his father Sitar Ratna Rahimat Khan in traditional Guru-Shishya style.He has mastered many forms of Hindustani Vocal Singing such as Khayal, Thumri and Ghazals. He specializes in Vachanas of Akkamahadevi, Basavanna, and Dasara Padas of Purandaradasa, Kanakadasa, Sai Bhajans and Meera Bai Bhajans.
He is an approved artist for Sitar of All India Radio, Doordarshan and performs regularly. Like his father, Ustad Hafiz khan has also become an institution in Hindustani music.He has held audiences spellbound not just in India but has equally mesmerized music lovers across the globe. He has toured abroad and performed at London, various cities in USA, Persian Gulf, Iran, Kuwait, Dubai and Sharjah to name a few.
Suma Hegde , hails from a village , Hitlalli ,in uttara Kannada district . She is born in a music loving family. Her father G G Hegde is an eminent Tabla andsantoor player which greatly influenced her engrossment in Santoor.
Suma got an opportunity to meet the Great Maestro of Santoor , Pt.Shivkumar Sharma who showed her the way in learning Santoor in one of his Senior Disciple Dr . Dhananjay Daithankar Pune . She is learning under Dr. Dhananjay daithankar Pune from past 9 years.
Suma has performed widely at the Santoor Samaroh in Bhopal, Alvas Nudisiri, Sapthak , Shri Ramakalvedike, RagaSangama Bangalore, Panchamada Inchara, Sangeeta Bharati MangaloreRastriya Sangeet Sammelana Karkala and Swar santoor Pune to name a few.
Shakthidhar was fascinated by the Baansuri in his early childhood. He started his initial training under Pt. K S Naik for 8 years. Later he was invited to teach Flute at the Late PK Salve Academy of Music and Fine Arts, Nagpur.
He has been performing at various platforms around the country since 1998.He has been touring all over the world for music concerts, workshops and Master classes. He has performed in Dubai, USA, Berlin, Geneva, France, Doha Qatar, Washington DC, Italy, Singapore, Karnataka.
He has also performed for various theatre productions at the National School of Drama, New Delhi. Shakthidhar worked as visiting Music faculty at British School in New Delhi. He also provides Consultancy services to Music software company Swarsystems, Switzerland that is an industry standard for sample tones of Indian Musical Instruments.
